During April 11 to 12, under the lead of Chief Advisors, including Professor Guan Ming of Shanghai Huashan Hospital, Professor Zhang Chuanbao of National Center for Clinical Laboratories，Professor Li Boan of 302 Military Hospital of China，the Club Chairman Professor Xie Xiaobing from The First Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, and the Executive Chairman Professor Ji Ling of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, the A1C Club conducted an academic conference in Shanghai. The participants had lively discussions on technology assessment and improvement, standardization program, as well as clinical application of China's HbA1c testing.

In the afternoon of April 11, A1C Club’s experts visited the R&D, Production and Logistics Centers of Runda Industrial Park to take a look at the entire process about product development and distribution of HbA1c analyzer.

On April 12, an academic conference was conducted in the head office of Runda Medical. Professor Xie Xiaobing, Chairman of A1C Club made a speech at the beginning and he indicated that setting up a club like this is a new form of academic activity, aims to push forward the standardization process of HbA1c through communicating and experience sharing between countrywide experts, finally could do better with diabetes prevention.

Professor Han Kun, Director of Editorial Department of “Chinese Journal of Laboratory Medicine” then mentioned that it is meaningful to combine clinical department and clinical laboratory for conducting academic research, and hope experts could put forward the deep, comprehensive questions and suggestions on HbA1c analyzer to support the development of domestic enterprise.

Later on, the participants discussed on the following topics:

1.    Hemoglobin Variants Affect the HbA1c Values on Different Analyzers by Professor Ji Ling, the Lab Director of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital

2.    Application of HbA1c and GA in Diabetic Retinopathy by Professor Liu Wei, deputy director of the Eye Center of Shanghai First People’s Hospital

3.    Introduction of MEDCONN MQ6000 HbA1c Analyzer and its relevant Service Program by Jinlei Chen, Service Manager of Runda Medical

4.    Performance Evaluation of MQ6000 by Professor Guan Ming, Lab Director of Shanghai Huashan Hospital

The last section was conducted by Professor Zhang Chuanbao, Chief Advisor of the A1C Club and Director of Biochemical Laboratory of National Center for Clinical Laboratories. He concisely and comprehensively summarized those hot topics of HbA1c testing that were mentioned by the experts, including methodology, hemoglobin variants and standardization. He also provided valuable suggestions for the development of domestic HbA1c products as well.

The meeting activities of A1C Club were jointly planned by Strategic Marketing Dept. of Runda Medical, Shanghai Kangxiang and A1C Team of Shanghai Runda. The initiation is encouraging academic communication and development of clinical laboratory, which is also the starting point of Runda technical marketing strategy for its own brand products.
